I bought this in bloom from orchidweb. The fragrance is powerful and lovely. It smells of licorice, cloves and lilac. It is a large plant, but it is definitely worth the space.

It is in loosely packed sphagenum moss with a large air pocket at the bottom of the pot. I want to repot it into a mixture of volcanic pumice and sphagenum moss because I have another zygopetalum in a similar mix that is doing well. For your reference that mixture is leca with sphagenum moss on the bottom and moss fragments sparesly mixed in. These like water and good airflow.

I treat them like oncidiums for the most part.

I grow everything indoors under par 38 led bulbs that are 3000-5000 kelvin.

Fyi I like fine to medium grade pumice because it doesn't break down, is airy and also wicks water. I have cattleyas in a similar mix that are growing some mad roots.

Best of luck!

She rebloomed already with two spikes! 😊The growth pattern on this is very srange. It made a new growth, spike and flowers while the older growths were still making pseudo-bulbs....weird definitely not like my other orchids.

Still smells beautiful! Btw I repotted it and it is doing very well.
