Maxillaria variabilis Blooming
Default Maxillaria variabilis Blooming

I got this Maxillaria variabilis last year from a family member. It has grown a lot. Now, it finally blooms! I pot it in the moss and only water it when the moss is slightly dry. It sits close to the north facing window and get additional 7 hours of supplemental light at night. In the winter, the room temperature is between 59F and 65F. In the summer it’s about 70F to 80F. I don’t know about the ideal growing environment for this genus. But it looks pretty happy now.

That's a nicely-colored plant! My maxies like plenty of water, so the sphagnum moss is a good choice. At any rate, it is working well for you. Good job!
