Maxillaria minuta
The Maxillaria minuta arrived this afternoon and I was so surprised at the size and perfection of this plant. The sellers photos were very good, exceptional even but until I held this in my hand...this is why I grow miniatures! Exactly this.
Such perfect little growths and shape, so tiny. I'm a nature nut anyway but when something as beautiful and pure as this comes along I just have to smile and enjoy it.
I've seen pictures of this plant in bloom, they are a red color with yellow stripes and a bit hidden in the foliage. I hope it will flower and grow for me. My other miniature Maxillaria has flowered a second time today, maybe in celebration of its new roommate.
I truly believe that orchid growing is a growing experience and you only limit yourself by your space and time. I don't have unlimited space but for all practical purposes I'm retired and my time is for enjoying the beautiful things in my life. Today it happens to be this tiny Maxillaria!
