Default Maxillaria pseudoreichenheimiana

I have seen this plant posted online. I have always found the leaves to be interesting. Today I attended a seminar presented by the International Phalaenopsis Alliance, Region 10. One of the speakers was Eric Sauer of River Valley Orchids, out of Dayton, Ohio.

His presentation: "Maxillaria: There is More Than Just Tenuifolia". It was a good presentation and he provided other kinds of Maxillaria.

This plant comes from Columbia/Ecuador on the western slopes of the Andes about 600 to 1100 meters. Cultural notes states it likes warm to hot temperatures. But during Eric Sauer's presentation, he advised this plant tolerates cool temperatures. Oncidium light is appreciated. Keep it evenly moist throughout the year, letting it go slightly damp before watering again. Light fertilizer through out the year should be provided. Fresh, moving air is also necessary to prevent mold and other pests.

Thank you all for your comments and questions about this plant. I have a soft spot for variegated plants and this is right in my appealing plant, want to have list.
