My Tsubotaara Melinda Marie 'Blue Moon' has lost all its leaves. I am pretty sure it was just a matter of not keeping up on water. It still has tons of roots though. I switched it to semi hydro as a last ditch effort to get it to bounce back. We shall see...

I think most people would do best with these in sphagnum moss, standing in a dish of water.

I think s/h would work well. I've got mine in orchiata in a dish of water.

I have a relative of this in S/H. It works well for this type of plant if the roots stay wet during the transition, and the reservoir never dries out.

They will need watering every day during the transition unless the existing roots already reach into the wet zone. If the reservoir every dries out the plant will be harmed.

Mine was in Orchiata mix and added extra Spagnum moss but it still did not seem to be enough. There seemed to be very little info around when I got this guy so I winged it. The reservoir is deeper on the new pot so it should never dry out. I was not sure about light which I also notice below so I may move it to a little less bright an area.

I killed mine so fast it would make your head spin. I knew nothing of it and left for the weekend came back to it with some kind of bacteria or fungus as I also didn't have a fan running in that room. It also infected several other orchids around it. So I'll leave this one to you guys who can grow it.

The fan-growing Pescatorea relatives behave as though they are swamp things. They are epiphytes, but they must come from areas where it rains three times a day and always stays wet.

People don't water them enough, then the plant turns wet and brown from the crown up. The grower thinks it has a fungus, but it doesn't. This is lack of water, not fungus. They can die within a few days of going dry just once. This also happens if they are in S/H and the reservoir goes dry.

Shannon, you grow your Phrags in dishes of water. If you grew this kind of plant the same way, you would have success.

That's how I grow mine. Bright north window, cool, lots of air movement and it's in a moss blend in a ceramic pot which gets drizzled with water every morning. ES is right "swampy." In fact, I'm adding two more to the tribe!

Not big at all. I think this is in a 4" pot? Probably not taller than 6".
