Lycaste noid hybrid
Picked this up at the Santa Barbara show in March in bloom. It grew all summer and now it is flowering again!

It's really beautiful. How big are the flowers?

can you believe I picked up a similar one at trader joe's a couple months ago?
Wasn't so sure about growing these with our heat, but guess this one handled our 100 degree spells this year?

lycaste hybrid just came home with me
it did, from the TJ's at selma + vine, tag said something like lycaste pink and a number on it only... have to take a look but couldn't find anything when I did a search for it. I was talking to james from Cal orchid about it and he said that they can grow these from meristem now so they'll be more widely available in coming years.
so yours made it through our heat spells without a hitch if you don't mind me asking again? Mine's loving the cool weather...

Oh, I am jealous. I wonder if they only occur at TJs in Southern Cal? I'm going to be on the lookout for something like this during the spring shows!
