Maxillaria ferdinandiana
This is the third Maxillaria I acquired today 09/09/17 at the International Phalaenopsis Alliance, Region 10 Seminar held at Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana.
This plant is from Eric Sauer of River Valley Orchids, Dayton, Ohio. Eric was one of the presenters at the seminar.
One culture note. Eric uses New Zealand Sphagnum Moss as his plant media. He stated that this was an ideal media because: 1) it provides consistent moisture to the roots, 2) will require less watering.
This plant looks more like a Maxillary tenuifolia but it does not get as large and grows out, as opposed to tenuifolia's habit of growing up.
