Can anyone translate this for me ??
I just purchased this beauty at Marlow's Orchids and I know that it's a Zygo hybrid, but have no clue as to what this tag says
(Gntm Giant -Theim harlekin- x Blptm Midnight Blue ) x Jumping Jack
can anyone help with this ??

I checked in OrchidWiz. The first part is (Galeopetalum (Gptm.) Giant 'Rhein Harlequin' x Zygotoria (Zgt.) Midnight Blue). The midnight Blue was likely Boleopetalum before re-naming. It is not a registered cross. Then this unregistered cross is crossed with Zygopetalum Jumping Jack.

could also be
( Gptm. Giant x Zglm. Rhein Harlequin x Zgt. Midnight Blue ) x Z. Jumping Jack
..............somebody should just pay the $16 and register this as its more hassle with tags than anything else !

That's possible. Rhein Harlequin is used as a cultivar name and a hybrid name. It gets confusing. Just figured since a - was used and not an x and they put it in brackets that the intent was to cross those two and then cross that with the 3rd name. Looks like a language barrier too as there is mis-spelling on the tag.

Easiest way to be sure: contact Marlowe's.

I didn't ask him specifically , and he just told me it was a Zygo hybrid. I had already recognized it as a Zygo from the leaves and blooms, but sure didn't recognize the names on the tags

I'd be all for someone registering and putting one name on the tag
Thanks to both of you. It's nice to put a name to the letters and see where the Zygo came in.

That's an interesting and pretty plant. I feel your pain regarding the tag, seems messy. I'd inquire more with Marlow too, perhaps even figure out who made the cross. I'm always excited to see different Zygo hybrids, thanks for sharing this one. Is it fragrant at all?

It does not seem to be fragrant unless it is certain times of day and I missed it
My big Noid does not seem to have any fragrance either.
I love the look of the blooms on both of them, and because my Noid put out 4 spikes this year I am hoping the new one will follow suit.

That was a bit complicated. Great blooms.
