I can't take credit for the blooms but this is one amazing orchid! Seeing how i managed to keep P. dayana alive i decided to try my hands at the most famous of the genus. This is the largest orchid I have as of now and I don't know why not many people grow these. The flowers smell of gardenias in the afternoon. In the last picture, you can see that one of the leaves in the back has developed an extreme amount of spotting. Is this normal?

That is a beautiful flower & what a big plant! I don't know why more people - myself included - don't have them either. Fragrant too? Great pick. Sorry don't know what to say about the spotting though they are in the Zygo family and a lot of Zygos tend to get black spotting and streaking on the leaves. Then again none of the other, mature, leaves are spotted so that makes me a little more curious...

Thanks for sharing!

Very cool bloom and plant. I couldn't raise something that big, I don't have the room.

Really a cool plant. Pescatoreas want a constant supply of humidity to the root system, so growing in hygroton is a possibility.
The spotting or streaking of the new leave is not normal but a sign of fungus infection, eventually triggered by nutrion problems. Fans like Pescatoreas are prone to this. Moving air can help.
Be careful when repotting. They can be sensitive and react aggrieved.
