Default Promenaea citrata - riddle

I was given a Promenaea citrata x Limelight (also found as Promenaea Limelight x citrata in the web) for my coming birthday. Curious as I am, I started looking for pictures in the web, in order to have an idea of what the flowers look like. GORGEOUS! However, I went further and try to check for the parent. I could find Promenaea Limelight, but no Promenaea citrata.

Is this a general ortographic mistake you find everywhere for this hybrid or does Promenaea citrata really exist, but hidden somewhere?

The most similar thing I have found is Promenaea citrina, currently accepted as Promenaea xanthina, and therefore the hybrid I've got should be called Promenaea Meadow Gold.

Does anyone here knows the correct answers to this "riddle"?

Hello kavanaru!, I have a Promenaea Meadow Gold x citrina and I cant find citrina anywhere. I did see Catarina on your link so I'm guessing its a typo on my tag. Mine has yellow flowers with a deep red 'throat'. These are really awesome little orchids.

Hi Orchidophile, Promenaea citrina is a non-valid name for Promenaea xanthina

Hi Ramon

Checked Orchidwiz and there's no citrata listed...only citrina...says xanthina is an accepted name for the species.

Promenaea Meadow Gold
(Promenaea Limelight x Promenaea xanthina)

That's beautiful...but I still don't find that name registered anywhere. Checked Wildcatt, Orchidwiz and the RHS web site

yeap! That's it

but citrata must be a mistake.. I cannot find it in the web (not even at the RHS). I assume it was a mistake when writting the first label... and it should have been citrina

When I googled Promenaea citrata x Limelight, there were quite a few sites that came up referring to the plant by the same name - could there be an epidemic of wrong-naming this orchid or does it simply go under some other taxomonical term?
