I just checked mine a few days ago, nothing yet! Last time I got blooms was 2 years ago, last winter was just too cloudy and it didnt get much sun, even in a south facing window. This winter has been only marginally better so i don't know what to expect...

I got lots of new bulbs this winter, so blooms can't be too far away. I guess one benefit of a brutally cold winter is lots of sunshine!

The first hint I had that there were buds/blooms was actually the smell! Then I really had to hunt for the bloom, it was buried deep in the plant. And that's how I noticed a dozen other buds ready to open. The spikes really do come out of nowhere....

Two spotted on mine. This year I am so ready for them...every other year they catch me totally by surprise!

I just examined mine and, as always, if it is going to bloom, it is being very secretive about it. I am glad that others have the same difficulty.
Mine is pretty faithful about blooming just when I am wondering where I failed culture-wise for the year. :|

Would like to know more about culture. One I have is getting closer to the compost each day unless I get it some help. I'm doing a lousy job!

I agree with everything leafmite said. Mine wouldn't bloom for 2 years. I had it growing in a medium bark mix, and watered it regularly, but no matter how much I watered, it would have shriveled bulbs. I gave it Oncidium light.

This past year I gave it Cattleya light, repotted in a fine fir bark with sphagnum top dressing. Lots and lots of water! Voila! Spikes galore!!!
