Got this plant a couple weeks ago now from Seattle Orchids. It came to me in bud with three buds. Within the first couple days one of the buds blasted. And actually I also got Zygonisia Cynosure 'alba' which arrived with a short surprise spike but that spike died completely. So I'm just glad I didn't lose all the buds.
This flower really is a soft green, for the most part the pictures are true although I think it's even a little softer/lighter. The purples spotting is rather light in color as well. It's fragrant, not strongly so, early in the day and smells like a citrus fruit.
I'm quite happy with this selection. It is a moderately tall plant. I really like how the lip is pure white on top but then there's that soft light purple underneath. It's about 2 inches wide or so.
the 'ARA' ending tells you it has more than 2 parents not that they are related
Aganisia x pabstia jugosa x zygopletalum x labiosum are the parents all 4 of them of the Ianclarkara. It is also fragrant if you havent noticed yet. Has the zygo type light perfumed scent. Very nice and easy going.
This is one of kalapana Tropicals hybrids.
If I remember correctly Ian Clarke is her son and Cheyenne Marie is her daughter. Its a family business
just think your mum and dad can make a plant name it after you and you can live forever in a pot... with proper care feeding and watering
While I know that individuals can name a hybrid, I don't think they have the option of specifying the hybrid genus name - although I'm not clear who does.
