Default Lycaste Memoria Olga Antón

I bought this one last Spring, got it home to discover it had almost no roots, but HUGE healthy pblubs. So I knew there was a lot of energy in the plant. After a lot of watchful care, it put out a new growth and then surprise! It opened while I had some visitors from Belgium staying with me and they were amazed that it went from bud to flower overnight.

The flower isn't the best form as the sepals bend backwards, but I am hopeful that this is just for this blooming. The color is exceptional. No fragrance that I can detect, however.

Nice.
I don't know if it's typical of the genus but my lycaste looked as if roots were dead- as in black. I noticed over a few months that roots start out green and then go black and stringy. Yet the plant is pushing out bulbs!

I have noticed the same. In this case, the roots were brown and mushy - really bad. I was so disappointed!
