The damage to the main pbulb is a little brutal I know, not for the Chids, keep their eyes closed. I guess it's a forewarning to myself and all of us putting our Chids back outside for the summer: Chipmunks are not orchid friendly. THEY ARE THE ENEMY!
BUT I'm super happy that it has a new growth finally after 6 months of waiting. The black tie you see btw is there to support the plant, cheap clip.
moth balls, and/or dried blood make good animal deterrents.
copper foil put around a pots edge will deter slugs if you don't want to use slug bait because of children or pets being around.
Interesting deterrents Dan, I'll have to keep them in mind, although the dried blood one is... different. Thanks!
Thanks Judith!!
Dried blood is just blood meal. Excellent source of nitrogen, but I have found it has little effect on the critters around me. I tried using it last year to keep the squirrels away from my tomatoes, but they scoffed in my face and ate everything that was just ripening.
