My blue water sailing isn't doing so hot. It's not happy and I'm not sure why. Hasnt really grown at all since I got mine back in the spring. How do you keep yours? Light level, humidity, temps? Trying to figure out what mine wants and I've had no luck.

Couldn't get on here for a while, so I apologize for not replying sooner. Honestly I just recently got this plant in bloom like this, pretty much right about the time I posted at the beginning of the month. These are 2 of 3 Zygonisias I have and all are recently acquired (honestly I'm fairly new to the game period ).

What are you doing with it so far? I have been keeping these two right on the kitchen windowsill which is east-facing. I've been watering at least weekly though I try to remember to get to them sooner, I would like to be watering 2-3 times because I learned that my other Zygo hybrid (Zygopetalum x Zygosepalum) likes to be watered a couple of times a week. In fact that plant - Zygolum Rhein 'Moonlight' - has been kept outside all summer in fairly bright light, next to my Oncid Heaven Scent & Catts! It never burned but only one of the 2 new growths that grew (to a decent size, the third stopped around half inch) spiked but it's got double spikes now in bloom. Interestingly, and I'll post this as its own topic, the first bud spent most of its development outside getting rather cool evening temps, until I decided to bring spiking/budding plants in as we were forecasted to have about a week of lows in the 40s. It was actually a pretty big bud and opened to be a bigger flower than I had had when I first got it (in bud). However after I brought it inside none of the other 3 got that big! This plant has been getting quite a bit of rain (I put it out just for the rain today, but will bring back in to keep enjoying these new blooms.) Thus it's not gotten a lot of fertilizer, but my Zygonisias I've been feeding weakly, weekly alternating between two different fertilizers.

Sorry I can't be of more help right now, I pray I'll take good enough care to get them to spike again myself. Perhaps someone else with 'Blue Water Sailing' will chime in. In the meantime, what have you been doing with it (we can speculate ).

Take care!

You might have found a solution already so don't know if this reply helps.

Zygonisia has Aganisia cyanea in its parentage. It is a wet growing plant from the Amazon.
I killed a Zygonisia because of the wrong potting mix. I grow in a dry climate and the mix was small bark but it did not retain enough moisture.
Now I have a new plant and I am growing it in a sphagnum mix, loosely packed into the pot with some bark chips mixed in. This seems to be working. I have 3 new growths and growing quite nicely.
I would also suggest not to grow too cold like Cymbidiums. May be mid-50s (13 c) as a minimum temperature.
Best of luck.
Andrew
