I am trying to identify this plant. It has a good spicy fragrance. I've been. Going nuts reading Oakley trying to figure it out!

What is the scent like? Since you've indicated that it's got a good spicy fragrance, the two Central American candidates I'm thinking of are Lycaste aromatica and Lycaste cruenta. Both are deciduous, but aromatica's blooms are usually more numerous and considerably smaller than cruenta's (just a generalization based on my own experience with the two species). Aromatica's flowers smell strongly of cinnamon, whereas cruenta's flowers, although strongly scented, don't remind me of cinnamon. Lycaste consobrina is also a Central American species, but its blooms aren't what I would call good. Macrobulbon is a Colombian species, and its flowers also smell rather stinky. Maybe you have a hybrid. Can you contact the previous grower to try and get an idea of your plant's background? Oakley himself might be willing to lend his expertise. He's a pretty approachable guy. Good luck.

Steve
