I am happy to report that I picked up a Prom. Winelight and a Catasetum Tubulare ( in spike ). I only decided to go to Columbus late and was thus not able to pre-order..........these 2 were the ONLY 2 of their genus' at the show - and I asked at each vendor. How is that for destiny
The Winelight is really pretty - the vendor said that he had a good representation of bloom colours of the cross in the compot he got, from pure yellow to yellow with a red throat. He couldn't remember what mine had flowered ! But its a nice size, about 10 pbulbs at least.

Yeah!! I have Prom Ben Berliner which has Limelight as a parent also. Haven't seen it bloom yet but mine came with a bunch of pbulbs too! Unfortunately the new growth it came with I managed to rot but several others popped up around the plant. I'm very impatiently awaiting blooms although I don't expect any anytime soon.
Interesting he got pure yellow to yellow, I found this pic of it just now when I was trying to see what this new find of yours is!
Promenaea Winelight
It'll be fun to see it when it blooms. I'll hope for you as i do myself that they bloom with some Zygos and then we'll have some fun crosses!! Is Winelight a micro mini or just mini? My silvana is a micro mini whereas my other two are "just" minis, biggest leaves to smallest in this order: Ben Berliner, Xanthina 'Botanica' (those two are comparable), then Silvana. Chameleon isn't here yet.
I hear these guys like high humidity so I'm definitely going to get a humidifier.
Thanks for sharing your finds. I'm not familiar with Catasetums but still interested in the blooms (perhaps you posted under that alliance?). I was wondering if you found anything interesting.

as to size - I haven't seen a micro-mini, but the plant is small - probably just over 2inches top to bottom of pbulb. The flowers on Orchidwiz are all yellow, one white, with red throats. Not sure if that link is of a Winelight.....
Interesting article:
Promenaeas
here is one

Mine is placed closed to a ultrasonic cool mist humidifier - btw I think these are the best and I have tried a range. Costco has a 2g 120hr ultrasonic humidifier for $90 - also available online. I have 2 and they are great.
Catasetums - I have a couple now. They are absolutely fascinating in that they either bloom all female or all male flowers......and they are spectacular in range and type of flower. What is also appealing is that they go dormant in Winter and are thus space-savers. Really easy to grow too. I have a thread Fredclarkeara After Dark - and you can see how enormous they/(some) get. Best of all they really do well outdoors ! Another thread - Cycnoches Golden Showers.

I'll check out that article, thanks for sharing. And perhaps tomorrow I'll post a thread showing the Proms I've got right now and their various sizes. None of them are very big but like I said the Silvana is especially small compared to the others (not sure if I'm correct calling it micro-mini though).
Here's a couple more image links for Winelight:
2013 Ottawa Orchid Show
National Capital Judging Center Description
Atlanta Society 2006 - Page 11, this one so different! I see it also has a separate hybrid name?
It's all these dramatic differences that make me wonder just how anyone picture or orchid can be registered! But also what makes them so awesome.
Thanks for the suggestion for the humidifier. I'm certain my lower indoor humidity has adversely effected my in spike/bud/bloom plants. My Zglm as I said before buds didn't all get as big once I brought them inside. My Miltoniopsis which recently came into bloom doesn't have nearly as large of flowers, or flat, as when I got it in bloom from Hausermann's. I could go on. I'll look into this.
I worry that I would kill Orchids that go dormant! After googling some Catasetums I wish I hadn't! They are definitely fascinating especially in all their variety. I remember wanting a Monniearara (Millenium Magic I think) in the spring but straying away from it because I didn't want to add yet another genus I'd have to learn how to care for and because they could be big. Thanks to you and this thread one day I may venture... You know I was searching RHS tonight and I saw that there's a hybrid of Prom & Clowetsetum, a hybrid of Catasetums. In addition it seems Proms have been bred successfully at least with a number of others like Rossioglossum & Cymbidium.
Thanks again for sharing!!

Update!
This plant has been well an interesting challenge, and as I tend to complicate things I added to the challenge by potting it in peat moss mix this summer. What I learned in that experiment is that it is better to use unglazed clay pots with peat moss because they dry out faster. Whereas the glazed ceramic that I repotted this big guy into does not dry out very fast AT ALL, even with the decorative holes (you know the kind you see in "great for orchids" decorative pots?) on the side.
I experienced the same problem with my Wilsonara Pacific Passage 'Peach Cobbler' & I took much of the peat out of it and mixed in some more clay pebbles & bark, it seems to be doing alright. Meanwhile this Alantuckerara is questionable. It lost all of its leaves but I'm not 100% that this was due to the peat moss as it was losing leaves prior just not as fast. Then there's the issue of hot & cold, hot & cold weather we had. Witnessing this I have been telling myself OMG get that thing out of that mix before you kill it! But then I watch as this new little growth pops up and seems to be growing well. Still though I say doesn't matter winter is coming & that thing stays much too soggy, get some of the peat out and mix with more chunks. But then...
...upon bringing the group inside - which btw my whole collection stayed out for low 50s even some 40s for more than a week & several Zygo hybrids have small spikes - I discovered that this little new growth has a spike! Now I'm very happy and perplexed. I've had this plant for over a year and a half, spiked once but has grown quite a few growths. I'm afraid of disrupting the pot now that it has a spike, I'm thinking gosh something must be right if it's spiking!
Of course there's the issue of lighting (for everybody) now that they're back inside. All summer they've been on the back (uncovered) deck thus indirect light all day. Inside not so much.

Thank you very much! As you well know, now let's see who makes it through the long wait, me or the spike.

If someone answered the question, I missed it. Do Zygos bloom more readily with a night time temperature drop?
I love Zygos, but they haven't loved me. They're tied with the rupicolous laelias for genus I've had the most trouble with.
Gorgeous, gorgeous blooms on your Adelaide Meadows cross.
Btw, where do you find your Zygos? I haven't found too many sources besides ebay and Porters Orchids. And Australia, of course, but I don't get out that way too often
