Maxillaria tenufolia in a Shoe

This is a clay representation of my 3 yr old grandaughter's croc style shoe. My wife, the potter, made it at the request of the young one. After a while, my wife said it would look good with an orchid in it, which means "git 'er done". Walking by the larger maxillaria, I grabbed this little piece and stuffed it in the shoe with a little sphagnum and hung it in a little native tree along the drive. About 2 weeks later the little division sprouted a new leaf and a couple of flower spikes. I guess it likes its new home for now.

Really cool! Max tenufolia will grow upwards from that quite well I think. My mounted one is small at the base then climbs up on it's self away from the mount. I think yours will work really well.
