Default Maxillaria tenuifolia in spike

Had this plant since Sep. '12 and it's in spike for the first time after giving it more light this winter and spring. Can't wait to sniff the exotic aroma.

Your plant is slowly becoming a specimen. It is smart to grow it in a basket so it spreads out instead of being crimped in a pot.
My orchid plant is also spiking....post pictures of your blooms....

Will do. I'll take them with dslr and try to upload higher res images. Not sure why tapatalk shrinks them so much.

Wonderful!

I've never got mine to spike. Can't really give it more light than I am, so not sure I ever will.

These guys want a lot of light. The leaves should be a light green. I can't give mine as much light as it really wants, but it does bloom reliably for me. It's much better now that I hang it close to the glass roof of my sun room for the extra light. So just a small increase in light can do ti. I summer outdoors where it is quite happy.
