Default Lycaste skinneri 'York's Pride'

After growing this one for 2 years I finally got it to bloom. This is my first Lycaste to bloom. Not the best this FCC winner could be, but I'll happily take a 5 inch lateral spread for my first bloom.

Thanks Ron!

I know I can do better. This poor plant has had its set backs, bush snails and fungal attacks. The snails took me more than a year to get rid of. Thank goodness my favorite drinks work well on snails, coffee and beer.

I have a couple of albas also that I hope to be able to convince to bloom eventually.

I also have coffee and beer in my household, but never treated it to my Lycastes. This is a selected pretty clone, I like it.

Thanks!

For many years I had wanted to try to grow this species then when this division came available a couple of years ago I decided to take the plunge. And so glad that I did.

When I first saw the snails I tried a chemical I had used before, but it just did not kill them completely off. A 50/50 mix of brewed coffee and water did work. After a couple of treatments the snails were gone.
