Lycaste Sunray
In March Hanajima Orchids from Japan participated the 2013 orchid show and fair in Dresden, Germany. Besides selected top quality Sophronitis coccinea they imported several flowering Lycaste hybrids.
I was there one day earlier before the show opened to build up an exhibition stand. Thus I could check the goods for sale. Frankly spoken the Japanese prices were clearly above average, and so was the quality.
Early next morning I couldn't withstand temptation and picked this Lycaste Sunray ( skinneri 'Silk Pink' x Shoalhaven 'Moriyama No. 1').
Soon the crowd rushed in, more than 55000 visitors within 3 days, a significant number from eastern Europe, and the best plants were sold out.
I took the first picture in the show in March and the second yesterday as the plant rebloomed. It's not a wonder that a picture search of these items in the web now results in pages from the Ukraine and Russia, except Japan.

Gotta leave it to a people who have had flowers down to a fine art for centuries and centuries. I went to an orchid show in japan when I lived there and it was absolutely mind-blowing.
Great job on finding this masterpiece Sehr gut

I don't remind if the plants for sale were 4Ns. The best plants were priced between 200 and 400 Euro. My growing conditions in summer can be hot and dry in the bright spots. So I bought what I can grow without a major risk.
