In most cases Lycastes produce multiple stems that bear single flowers. A stem bearing two flowers is a rarity - more often seen on strong Anguloas. You can also see 3 bracts - one for each flower and an additional one on the stem.
Former Lycaste sect. Fimbriatae, today Ida or Sudamerlycaste linguella (= little tongue) is a species from higher altitudes in the Andes. In cultivation it may flower either in late autumn or in spring.
