Bollea and Pescatorea culture? Male
Question Bollea and Pescatorea culture?

How does one go about growing these beautiful orchids? I saw a neat specimen of Bollea coelestis on display at an orchid show, and I was hooked on it immediately. I've also seen a Pescatorea dayana in bloom, and it was gorgeous.

I know they're members of the Zygopetalum family, and they like a lot of moisture (they don't have pseudobulbs), but I'm not sure how much light they need or what temperatures they requre. I wanna know a bit more about them before I try one.

I've had my Bollea Ecuadoreana bloom for the first time since I got it a year ago. I would say Intermediate temps and med. light and high humidity ie 70 percent on average although I find my odonts and zygos and such do best when the humidity decreases during the day and increases at night say 40 to 50 percent daytime and 80 plus at night. Plus they need really good air movement at all times. They seem to be prone to leaf spotting otherwise. Hope this answers your question on Bollea as for pescatorea I can't really say.
