Zygopetalum Advance Australia

I was surprised to get blooms this fall for this plant since it gave me flowers last spring....but I wont complain for this fragrant gorgeous blooms ever....

It's just a stunning plant and photos!
I don" t have this particular hybrid, but I have 1 that bloomed once beautifully 2 summers ago and now I can't get it to bloom. Do you use bloom booster fertilizer when the growth is new? Or anything special. I feel I do follow it's required culture quite well so I am a bit stumped.

This orchid plant seems to like my environment.

I don't do anything extraordinary. I religiously follow the culture and feed it K-lite fertilizer and seaweed mix. This orchid plant just likes my environment. We have very humid hot summers, and dry frigid winters that's why I give it south facing window and humidifier with a small fan attached on the top. My apartment is central airconditioned and heater....so I give my plants added humidity and moisture.

Silken do you keep yours in rather bright light and water fairly regularly? My Zygolum came to me in bud this spring and bloomed with two spikes again this later summer. I kept mine outside - which it loved - in really bright even direct at times light along with my Miltonia and some mini Catts, as well as my Oncidium. I learned here and through experience that these guys like a fair amount of water, more than I provided at first and probably even more than that. Lucky for it it got good rain this summer.

Hi lotis146. I do keep it in fairly bright light and don't let it dry out. Mine was out this summer too in fairly bright light. So I don't know, since it bloomed with 2 spikes from one growth and 11 or more flowers. But that was 2 summers ago. Oh well, it's still alive so I can always hope!

-My Zygolum is doing fine= I am glad your plant is thriving. You are right, bright light with lots of water in its growing months....but winter is coming and you must hold fertilizer and maybe water it once a week instead of every other day to follow its culture as if in the wilds....unless you have a greenhouse with constant temperature and humidity....

Have patience, silken....these orchid plants usually bloom early spring then early autumn....so maybe you will have flowers after February....
