Default Promenaea Meadow Gold

The parents are: Promenaea Limelight X Promenaea xanthina.
This is a division of a clone of Promenaea Meadow Gold with 2 inches wide flowers that arches on a short spike so it will ring the pot with flowers as it becomes a specimen. This is a hybrid of a hybrid so is easier to grow than either of the parents. The plant is growing in a 2 inches net pot in a fine bark mix inside a ‘top hat’ glass cache pot that has ¼ water = when the water is dry it’s time to put it under the sink and drench it really wet. At the moment it has 1flower and 2 new growths.
Culture: I grow this in intermediate to cool-intermediate conditions. I give it moderate light levels on the farthest end of my east facing window in my kitchen and weekly weakly fertilizer. I water year-round without winter rest = water as it approaches dryness or when the liquid under the glass hat is gone.
One of the secrets of growing Promenaeas is: NOT to repot when a new growth is coming (with other orchids we are asked to wait until new growths appear before we are allowed to repot). But with this kind of orchid we have to wait until the new growth have matured. If you repot at the wrong time, the plant can sit for years before it begins to grow again. You don’t want your orchids sulking on you….

* when this first opened, it had a more yellowish tinge that become lighter and flimsier as the days went bye....
