Alright kindrag23, I got a little click-happy and ordered one too. So keep me posted and maybe we can learn and compare together! I think I'm going to mount mine, but we'll see.

I don't think I will mount mine. it will remain potted, I just ordered a movable green house 7 x 3 x 6 so hopefully it will do just what I need for summer and winter indoors of course. lol.
I will definitely keep you posted you keep me posted as well and we will learn together.

This may also help:
Maxillaria tenuifolia (Project 11 - Summer 2010)
Mine bloomed after getting nearly full sun and lots of water in the summer, and then a fairly dry winter - good luck!

NLN thank you!! I found that thread yesterday and started going through it. I know it will be helpful. Did you have yours potted or mounted? In what or on what?
Was there a summer 2013 project? I couldn't find one as I was browsing the past projects. How fun!

We didn't have a Summer project this year. Probably everyone still too busy with the spring flasking project
My Max was for the summer 2010 project, this year is the first I've had it in full sun through the summer (and we've had some decent weather unlike last year)

I didn't have my Max. when the member's project was started, but that thread gave me a lot of good information!!
Mine was potted in sphag and was chartreuse by the end of the summer - it took full sun from about 9am until 5pm or so. It was also just a tiny thing (6 pseudobulbs when it bloomed in January), so they don't have to be big to bloom. I ended up having to repot it this spring (the dog knocked it out of the pot), and I understand they can sulk, so we'll see if I get blooms this year!

I have Max. tenuifolia for 2 yrs now. When I got it at thelocal orchid show, I repotted in a clay pot, bigger than the plant needed because I figured it is going to need some root space as it grows. That first year I had it in partial shade in my patio but it did get a few hrs direct sun light. It bloomed with very few flowers.
I am in south Florida where it rains a lot. Getting tired of hand watering, I hung it outside in my mango tree and the plant became very happy. It got light all day, several hrs direct light through gaps between mango leaves and got plenty of rains. At times pseudobulbs shriveled up but they became plump again with next rain. In addition I watered with a hose if it did not rain a few days.
Plant rewarded me with a zillion blooms this year. I could smell their delicious scent several feet away.
Plus, it filled that big pot completely and looks like it would like another repotting.
I am trying to figure out how to divide it,do I need roots that are in the media?
Here is a picture when it just started blooming in April-

Thanks for the info on your growing techniques NLN and Plumania! I just received mine in the mail on Thursday. It has 5 psuedobulbs and at least 4 new growths in progress. I'll post a pic soon.

I'd mount it to a large piece of cork and give it lots of light.
