New Maxilaria species from Ecuador ? Male
Default Maxillaria nardoides

i got this from one of the members of the ecuatorian orchid club in my last visit to ecuador.

the person that gave me this little jewel told me that the plant is currently in hands of taxonomists and it might be a new species from Ecuador.

EDIT: it seems i got it all wrong, the full name is Maxillaria nardoides.

i came along with a small division of it. and while feeding the plants today , i found that mine gave a single flower.

picture was taken with my cellphone, once my camera has some battery i promise better pictures (apologies)

if the plant has an ID and or the plant was given a name , please let me know.

color is very VERY dark , photo does not provide justice.

cheers
Antonio.

It's a cool little plant. I found Maxillarias with thin cylindrical pseudobulbs to be a bit of a challenge at first. I was thrown off by the growth habit and the shape of the pseudobulbs.

Still learning about these kinds of Maxillarias.

Good luck with it. Your plant looks beautiful.
