The coconut scented Maxillaria tenuifolia
What an awesome, strong coconut perfume this well-known beauty has! It is always a joy when it is in flower!

Wow! This one is so beautiful. I especially like the color and the mottling on it. I always love seeing what others are gowing!

Sorry, KC, but I have no secret to grow this. I keep it low in the grh, a foot and a half, or so, from the floor. I have my grh covered with transparent plastic film and shade cloth that cuts 50% of the light. I don't move it, I don't even change its position. I have a piece of it that I decided to grow high in the grh, so it receives good light. It took two years, but it finally it is in flower too. For the rest, I grow it just like Cattleyas. Hope this can help you a little.

Bonsoir, Camille! Mois aussi! (mon français... je ne le pratique plus depuis 12 ans). That's why this is the right place to be if you love orchids. People here have an endless number of different orchids to show and share, and that's what makes the forum so colorful, so warm.

Thank you again, Mauro. I just purchased one of these in July and I'm thrilled to see how beautiful your's is! Can you tell me the approximate age of your plant and also the size, please? I have no idea how old my plant is so wonder how long I'll have to wait for a bloom.

What a gorgeous plant. I'll bet just walking by it must be a wonderfully scented experience.

Shirley, this is a present I got from my mom four years ago by this time of the year. Though not large at that time it was an adult plant with a few flowers. So we can say that my plant has 7-8 years. It is now 18" high, with a diameter of 8", more or less.
