I posted this in the Maxillaria forum but had to post it here too. About a year ago I bought a bagged Maxillaria tenufolia on the clearance shelf at Lowes. It's still small but it was looking good this winter, at least until the cat turned it over. It was still healthy but lost a few pseudobulbs and I figured it would a bit longer before it bloomed. But it surprised me and put out a flower this week. I'm totally excited about it.

Very good photo and a nice flower. I find this plant very difficult to photograph for some unknown reason.
I think it is becuase it likes to hide in the foliage.

Thanks, Leisurely! They are hard to photograph in the foliage. Normally I like to photograph when I have some natural light. With my long hours at work the past couple of weeks, it hasn't been possible.

Last summer I was looking at lots of Maxillaria photos trying to figure out where the spike comes out. I never could see it. Now that I've seen the flower in person, I can see why it's hard to see it in a photograph.
