Zygopetalum hybrid
I wish I could post the wonderful fragrance of hyacinths, which these flowers emitt. In the wild the Zygopetalum flowers are pollinated by male euglossinae bees, who gather a bouquet of various fragrances. Only this makes a male attractive to female bees for mating.

Quite lovely. I like how the lip is such a vivid colour in comparison to the rest of the flower really makes the lip "POP!!"..and I'm a sucker for anything fragrant...I always liked these think I'm going to give one a try.
Thanks, Green Thumbs Up!

WOW!!! Love that one! The colors are fantastic! And if it smells like hyacinth that would be a big plus in my book!
I have one zygo baby and I am hoping when it grows up it is as nice as yours!
Thanks for sharing!

It's good to see a Zygopetalum fancy out there. I posted my plant because Zygos were a subject to mass production and sold for low prices in garden centers. But orchid enthusiasts usually don't pay much attention to them.
Despite of this hybridizing has reached fantastic results, they are easy growers and I guess in many countries they can be summered outdoors. I love the colour combination, a clear blue is exception among orchids (the lip reminds me of Cochleanthes flabelliformis), the fragrance is bewitching and the pollination thing interesting.
So I wish all of you who share enthusiasm the best success.

Hi
Is anyone around anymore? These date 2013. I'm looking to get something going for zygopetalum hybrids. They are a lovely orchid and I'm not finding much on the awesome plants.
Thank you
B

Didn't I send you information about them? I thought I sent you the notes from my notepad?
