Default Maxillaria tenuifolia pseudobulb turning brown

Hi,

I have a Maxillaria tenuifolia that I received around September of this year. It came and looked wonderful. Soon after it started to get a few spots on some of the central psuedobulbs, but it didn't seem to be an extensive problem, so I ignored it. Fast forward to now. It has 2 newer psuedobulbs since I received it, but it also has a central bulb turning brown and dropping (previously healthy) leaves. It did this rather rapidly when I was out of town for a week and it was being tended by my SO. Any advice on what in the world the brown p-bulb is or what the spots are would be wonderful.

Thank you!

I'm joining in on this thread and I'm very interested in reading what the others say. These guys are supposed to be pretty easy, I've been told. They can take a lot of water and are hard to kill, but perhaps also pretty difficult to get to flower. Or so I've been told...

Anyways, I've got big problems with my Maxillarias and cannot seem to keep them happy at all...any advice on them will be appreciated from my side as well.

I've had one that I got in bloom last March and it continued to bloom into June. It has grown well, but no signs of buds yet, though if it was blooming last March it might be too soon.

I grow in bark & clay pot, bright intermediate light with good air movement and try to make sure it doesn't dry out completely, but it does happen. I use a net bag (the kind bulbs come in) to help keep the growth upright and controlled (an idea I got here on the OB). I'll let you know if I get buds/blooms. Fingers crossed.

Have you had any updates on this? I seem to be having a similar problem.
