haven't updated this thread in a while. In bloom again for the umpteenth time. A hybrid that has magnificent blooms, great scent............but really black-spotted leaves. I brought this one indoors recently because of the drop in temps. I have to repot it - it has about 15 pbulbs and has grown rapidly since I got it in Dec 2011. Shows that it is not at all fussy.

That is gorgeous and so full of blooms. I flowered my first Zygo with two beautiful spikes 2 summers ago. Then I did the same (put it outside) last summer and this summer and have yet to see any more blooms. It loses its leaves fairly eagerly too. Any tips on culture? I thought I was doing what they liked.

if you have a true zygo ( petalum ), not zygoneria - which I cannot get to grow well, I don't do anything special.
When outdoors it was in dappled shade, was only drench watered about 5 times when rain wasn't at least weekly. I applied long-lasting fertiliser granules 1x and about 2 tablespoons of blood meal when first set outdoors and some organic chicken manure granules 3/4 of the way through summer. Also some slug pellets.....
I also get blooms while it is indoors. I have it in a South-facing window so it gets plenty of light. This year I am using Buffaloam compost tea for all my plants while indoors - its 1-1-1 and applied at every watering. With this plant that will be roughly 1x per week, depending on humidity. Temps indoors - now heating is on - are 70f consistently, but more in day and less at night, since it is closer to the window.
My zygolum are treated the same.
...and I get 2 spikes per bulb every time.
