My Zyg. put out one spike (hoorrrray) and I was very happy with that, then I noticed what I thought was the plant continuing to grow more leaves just like it always does. Now I see that it is another spike coming out of the center of the new growth. If it was a Phal. it would be called a terminal spike. Now what will happen? Will it kill that new growth or is that something this plant does sometimes? Why would it do that on an otherwise happy plant?...Jean

Unlike phals, zygos are constantly putting out new growths and so your zygo will be fine.
