not a fan of zygo, but I like Indigo Blue. There was one listing on eBay last year, but I totally missed the deadline and missed out on it. Dang!!!

love the color and the flower shape.

Thank You! I do appreciate your coming to visit my thread and commenting. The 28th street flower district on the 8th av side is where I got this plant. I also think you can find this in chinatown over by the Lafayette side vendors...You can grow Zygos; you have wide bright windows...and you live by the foot of a bridge so you are protected from the strong winds that hit all of our tall buildings(my vandas on my fire escape have been battered lately by the storms

You're welcome!
Thanks for the info. never knew there was a hidden orchid vendor in Chinatown. Now I have a new schedule for tomorrow
hopefully not as expensive as what they charge on the 28th st.

Was it NY Topiary on the 28th or the one across the street from it? those two are the closest to 8th ave who sell orchids. NY Topiary guys are rude though.

Anyways, I grow all mine inside. The first two weeks, the weather was really hot, then it has been quite rainy and cool. then today, it's quite warm again and I have my windows open (otherwise I'm afraid my plants will be all cooked!)

So zygos need high light?

By the way, I guess you didn't get to see my posting on my cymbidium. I will send you a message or something if you want the plant.

Its a mini Cym...its easy to grow in a windowsill...give it a shot first and let it rebloom in 4 to 5 months...then if you still decide that youre gonna get rid of it...I'll be willing to care for it.
Theres four chinatown orchidvendors and you can find two online...
No not the NY Topiary those peeps are rude an dumb...its the opposite store

So the largest growth, which is the one currently in spike, will be the biggest they will get? I guess then another problem is that it's going to spread.
Ok, I will see if I can do a good job with this one.
It is sending up a tiny little new shoot that looks like a bamboo shoot.

I'm not sure about growing condition on this, but so far so good I guess. I know one of their parent in Australia grow on tree in near dessert setting but ocean wind visits them all the time. so they should be heat and dry tolerant somewhat.
The flowers are still on but some are fading. not sure if it's about time for that or I've been underwatering it.

NY Topiary, I want to start a demonstration in front of their store. but I did some revenge on my own. hahaha
they should close down their business. rude rude rude!

ok, I'm going out Indigo Blue shopping in Chinatown tomorrow then.

Thank you again!

so I went out and spent about two hours walking around Little Italy and part of Chinatown and SoHo.
I did find one flower shop on Center st. between Grant and Howard. They had lots of oriental smile fantasy and some miltoniopsis (all with tags) then lots of bonsai too.
but no Indigo Sue.

BTW, they had such tiny gardenia with flowers on. I almost brought one home. maybe next time.

well, I at least had a nice walk enjoying the weather.

Hi Guys'
This is a hybrid was made here in Trinidad by an Englishman who went back to England in 1972 an can not remember his name.
We used grow this hybrid few years ago.

@veekay: According to RHS...the hybridizer is Mr. E. H. Hamel Wells (hence the name Hamelwellsara)
* E.H. stands for: Edmund Harcourt (hence the name of the parent: Hamelwellsara Mem. Edmund Harcourt)
