I have one that I got as a bag baby on the clearance table at Lowe's a couple of months ago. It was pretty darned healthy so I have no idea why it was on clearance. Any I left it in spagnum and it's happy as a clam in the sand, as long as I don't let the spagnum get too dry. It's got a bunch of new leaves and roots.

I really like your S/H arrangement. One of these days I'm going to try S/H.

Thanks guys. The base came from goodwill... Super cheap and definitely serves a good purpose. I don't know how well I having it planted like this helps but at the very least, the plant has the winds buffeted by being inside the vase instead of hanging out the top. It also allow me to fill up the vase to the very top, submerging most of the current plant, which allows me to water this thing deeply! I'm working hard of fattening up some of the bulbs, as the plant was pretty dry for a while before I got it. They have plumped up a bit but I don't think they'll ever get back to where they were.
