The fragrance sounds nice, now I want one too!
This would make for a perfect project plant. Great introductory species for the genus Maxillaria. Better than Max tenuifolia, I think. Tough as nails!

Great growing! That's a beautiful plant and wonderful flowers! Thanks for the cultural notes. This was already on my list for the next round of purchases. Now I'm definitely getting one!

One other thing I forgot to mention...

I know it has no bearing on cultivation, but it is a nice thing to know.

If you guys haven't guessed it already, Max. picta is bee pollinated. It doesn't matter if it's a honeybee or a Euglossine bee (the true pollinator), they will be pollinated by either one. Once the honeybees figure out it's a dud, they will stop visiting it though.

Although...

I have seen on the rare occasion some Euglossine bees here...

I don't think this species self pollinates very well. I had some mysterious little helpers pollinate the flowers for me, (I think they were honeybees), and the pods never made it to maturity.

Well, I've just ordered a little baby picta! Would have got a bigger one if the seller I used had them, so I think I might have to get a second bigger one if this one takes too long growing though *G*
