What species of Aerides?
Although I haven't tried it out yet, there's a possibility that Aerides flabellata may be able to be grown fairly cool because some specimens have been found in parts of Yunnan, China.
If this is the plant you're using as a gage, it might not be a very good one.
If you are using Aerides flabellata as a way to judge suitability, is there another orchid that can be used as a better reference? Say, something like Aerides lawrenciae...
A much better orchid to measure against, yet, would be Vanda luzonica.
Zygonisia should be grown in temperatures much to the liking of Vanda luzonica.
Vanda luzonica does not do quite so well in temperatures below 55 F.
