Default Promenea Ben Berliner

I bought this cross, Prom. Ben Berliner (Prom. Limelight x Prom. Crawshayana) about a year ago as a seedling and this is it's first blooming. I brought it in and sat it on a shelf near my reading chair so that I could enjoy it. I think I need to take it back into the greenhouse, every time I catch sight or it in my peripheral vision, it scares me. It looks like it is ready to pounce on me. I guess thats what I get for having read too much science fiction as a youth. Still, it's going back into the greenhouse before bedtime.

Promenaea Limelight x Meadow Gold
and I have a specie:
Promenaea stapelioides

both are in a 4 inches clay pot
mix of bark, lava rock, charcoal and coco chips...
it gets watered once a week
fertilizer twice a month
on the east facing bathroom window
humidity is good and loves my hot steamy showers in the morning
and cool nights slightly cracked opened window

Cool flower, Glen. I'd be more afraid that someone would steal it.

Bud - I have found them to be cool to warm growers favoring cool, so let's say intermediate conditions. General care would be low light levels, humidity between 40 -70%, I grow in sphagnum in clay pots because of the heat down here but normally the medium would be small bark with perlite. You want to water just as they start to dry but it doesn't want to be dry for long periods of time, except, if it loses it's leaves in the winter, DO NOT WATER, until you see new growth. If the plant doesn't go dormant, water slightly less than is normal. They are heavy feeders when in active growth. If that still doesn't get them to bloom, send them on a vacation to Florida and I will send them home when they are ready to bloom,.

Thanks Ron, I'm looking at it right now and I still say that it looks like it is about to leap at me and bite me. If you want to steal, I wouldn't stop you.

Wow! That's fabulous! But looking at the pic made larger, I can kind of see how it might scare you for a second!
