Maxillaria tenuifolia, need advice please!

Very nice...I have learned a lot from this thread...my plant have not bloomed yet this season...maybe it is still young...but it is a colony bunch by now...I am so looking forward to see its blooms.

Something I haven't told you all. I found out by accident, knocking over a Max, that those upper pbulbs can be potted as there are roots already under the many brown bracts. If you don't like how tall and taller and TALLEST it grows, cut them off and stick them next to the mama or pot them up and pass them on to friends !!! You could do that AND KEEP it at whatever height you like !

Well, now I am thinking rather than soaking the stem of the piece I cut off- I could cut it "up" to a piece with roots and pot it up!

I'm hoping to get one of these. I've got my ticket to the RHS orchid show in a couple of weeks, so who knows? *G*

I was thinking, maybe in the wild the high bulbs will tend to fall over eventually, so allowing the clump to spread? Maybe you could just stake them into a new pot and cut the stem once they've rooted into it?

I have seen people grow them mounted then just add more bark to the top and then once it takes hold just cut the mount back apart and separate the plant.
