Beautiful, Bud! I love the way the colour shades from dark to light.

silken 03-04-2012 12:22 PM

Very nice! I love most of the zygo's.

Thank You, Kim !

Thank You, nenella !

Thank You, Jane ! The white and blue pots and the colorful plastic butterflies were the first thing that attracted me to pick up an orchid for the very first time.

Thank You, Vanda Lover...you must be a good painter (chiaruscuro/spumatto) the effects of dark to light is the basic principles of light design for Theatrical performances which is my profession.

Thank You, silken ! you are continuosly teaching me new things as I read your posts...

Marc

Thank You, Marc !
Yes we had a mild winter this year, but dont forget we had a very early snowstorm on halloween and it was 2 feet and a half of snow dumped on us...

Native2FL 03-05-2012 06:05 PM

and that was it for snow, right ? That's unusual, but then you had a Hurricane last year too. :)

Bud 03-09-2012 06:46 PM

very strange weather tho...isnt it?
you are so right: it was very weird to have a hurricane right smack in Manhattan...even if it was just a small one

I have this as well, but cultivar "Blue Water Sailing"
Mine has mature bulbs with leaves about 6 inches tall. Is yours also a miniature ? I can't really tell from the photos.
I think I may have a spike developing. Its different from a zygo in that the spikes in zygos develop from the side of the new bulb. This one looks as if, well judging from the old cut spike, the spike develops from the centre of the bulb. I can't tell from the new growth...yet.....but it feels like a tube in there.

Bud 03-09-2012 11:45 PM

The longest leaf from bulb to tip is 14 inches and the shortest is 9 inches...this is like a zygo; the spike came from the side of the bulb near the roots.
Post pictures of your flowers when it opens...

Good flower Bud! I like your chinese pot as well. It seems that you grow your orchids in fancy pots! I definately want to get this one. Does it get really big like other Zygos?
