I'm about to receive 2 Bolleas, an ecuadorana and its sister species, a coelestis.

Their current owner give them to me because she says they are too difficult to grow them in her environment and they are not in a very good condition.

She also says they suffer in typical apartment conditions because their leaves are too thin and they dislike household humidity. But I see lots of flower pictures in forums and they look easy to grow and they tempt me

Can they be grown in a typical apartment environment?

They can grow in a humid environment, so the previous owner was misinformed. Some of my Zygopetalinae are growing in a bathroom with a small window for light.

They like intermediate temperatures.

Shade to bright shade.

They like some air circulation to their roots.

They're incredibly susceptible to rot if you over water during the winter months. Like I've always said with this group of orchids...

They should be watered year round, but the winter months should have reduced watering schedules.

Once a week during the winters is plenty enough water.

You can ramp up the frequency of watering during the summers.

You may want to consider disinfecting your new arrivals first.

Thanks.

But the main question is if they can be grown in a living room like a Zygo or a greenhouse is a must?

You don't need a greenhouse. A moderately humid room is fine.

Consider growing them in semi-hydroponics - they absolutely love the airiness and moist root zone.
