Basically, it goes like this...

The places where Zygopetalinae grow rain all year round. These locales just rain less frequently and in smaller amounts during the fall and winter compared to the spring and summer, when it rains buckets.

I have a Zygopetalum Advance Australia, which I acquired a year ago blooming size...it bloomed for me this spring; I am expecting it to spike any moment now...it is in a glass vase drilled with four large holes in a mix of large coco chips, hydroton, lava rock and charcoal...I water it everyday in the morning and let it dry all day but it is a few feet from the heater and humidifier this winter...bright southside sun in my bay window
