Maxillaria camaridii (in bloom)
Presenting the cute and short-lived blooms of Maxillaria camaridii. Its pristeen white crystalline flower with a bright yellow lip opens at night and closes in the morning on the following day. This phenomenon occurs only two days in a row, before the flowers die. Maxillaria camaridii is an epiphyte, which has been found in tropical and subtropical rain forests from Costa Rica to Peru. It seems to prefer a lower light level and it has this fragrant smell. I took a picture of the flower closed cause its daylight...I cant capture the nighttime opening cause I am at work and when I get home I'm just too sleepy...It has six more buds...I will try to capture the opened bloom next time.

I have a sneaky suspicion it opens its blooms as soon as it is dark on the windows by 6pm...and closes its blooms by 7am when the morning sun apperas...I go to work at 3pm (still bright) and go home by 2am or 3am(and really dogtired and ready to sleep) hopefully it blooms on my day off and before I party id take the pictures LOL

Opened blooms
This was taken at dawn while the flowers were about to close its petals... the third batch of blooms since this plant decided to give me flowers this year

Beautiful, Bud, but I didn't know that the flowers were so short-lived.
