As far as I know none of the Lycaste holds its leaves long. The aromatica/cochleata group - that is all those that come from zones with a decided dry period - drop their leaves every year. I believe Ida from wet - and colder - mountain regions - keep their leaves for three to four years. I dont know if they kepp them under cultivation.
Lycaste lasioglossa has stunning flowers with a hairy lip, whereas L. cruenta is an eyecatcher with its big yellow-orange flowers. Both will grow "big" leaves dependig on light and humidity conditions.

Kostas, Lycaste cruenta does have large leaves (but, as Stitz indicated, they get discarded in the winter--thankfully). But Lars has a good suggestion also. If you want something with large and impressive leaves (almost palm-like in character), Neomoorea irrorata's a good choice. You could also look for Peristeria elata, which also has monster-sized leaves (both it and the neomoorea, unlike Lyc. cruenta, enjoy fairly warm temperatures throughout the year). Thank you very much for your reply and suggestions Steve! Much appreciated! Neomoorea has been quite difficult to find so far but i placed a hold on a couple of next year's available plantlets! I will look for Peristeria as well!

As for Lycaste,i decided to go with Lycaste lasioglossa as it also gets huge leafs and is as evergreen as Lycaste can be! Plus,its flowers are beautiful as well!

I did warn you It is worth the wait though. I only got mine, because I was brazen enough to ask a vendor at an orchid show who had his plant on display, whether he would sell it. An hey was I surprised when he parted with it, for quite a decent price as well.
