Max equitans
Got this from Rob (Little Frog) a couple years ago. I simply really liked the growth habit which was quite atypical compared to what I normally associate with Maxs. Not a great pic, I'm sorry to say. It bloomed while I was gone for a week and the nicer of the two flowers closed the next day. So I wasn't able to get a photo of that one and had to settle for the other less attractive flower before it too "bit the dust".
Unfortunately, it has never been a prolific bloomer for me -- just a couple blooms now and then. But on the plus side, at least it has bloomed for me. (Last I checked, Rob's mother plant still hadn't done so for him.) Flowers have a light pleasant fragrance.

Paul - Couldn't help but notice your slip in names in the title of your post "Max equestris". I grew Max equitans some years back and always like the flower and growth habit until the plant started to get larger. I didn't know at the time that as the plant aged it would start dropping it's lower leaves much like a Vanda that has been grown too cool. It takes on what I always thought of as a palm tree effect, tall trunk, foliage at the top. I finally decided I didn't like the flower enough to compensate for what I considered a not very attractive plant. I really wish it had stayed small and fully leaved.

I don't think Max equestris is a valid name. It's not listed in IOSPE and I googled and found nothing on it. It's a beautiful flower and I only searched because I wanted one !
You snuck your thread in, Glen, while I was searching in another tab !!!

Chryss - That's me, always sneaking in. Not trying to be the taxonomy police, just don't like all the bad info out on the internet(which by the way I have been responsible for myself by mislabeling a plant picture by mistake). Just doing my part to help keep reliable info availaable to the masses.
Besides, I knew that you would catch it, knowing your love of Phal equestris.
