Lycaste Takagamine
Well, here we go again.... unfortunately, this year two of the buds blasted but I think I've got 2 or 3 more coming along.... stay tuned.

Beautiful lycaste! Is this the one that some brown spots at the tip of each petal one time? (think it was last year or the year before)

Yeap.... but don't tell anyone.... pleeessse
I think what happens is that for some reason this particular Lycaste is very sensitive to water and ANY water on the flower and instantaneous brown spot!!!!! Even too much humidity does it.

LOL.
I think I would hate this plant. You nurture it, love it and wait for blooms, only to be paid back with brown spots.
Did you leave it in the GH while the buds were growing, or put it somewhere with lower humidity?

No, this year I moved it to the back of the greenhouse where it is several degrees cooler and placed it on an upper shelf... out of the way. My Lycaste macrophylla had 4 flowers and not one of them ever got brown spots. I just wonder if it is just this Lycaste?????
