Default Agsm. Blue Butterfly

Greetings -
Well, this is a real tongue-twister - can anyone tell me the long version of the abbreviation "Agsm."? And, any hints on how to pronounce it? I'm kind of guessing Aganisium, but I almost never guess correctly.
This plant is a species cross of two warm/hot growing parents: Aganisia cyanea x Menadenium labiosum. Here it gets kind of hinky, because Aganisia cyanea is now Acacallis cyanea, and Menadenium labiosum is now Zygosepalum labiosum...attack of the crazed taxonomists!
Anyway, if anyone grows this, or any of it's parents, or their aliases, any cultural hints would be welcome! I got two smallish plants, put one in a basket, and the other on a chunk of grapevine - the vendor says they like to bloom really small, and, gawd help me, I chose to believe.
Regards - Nancy

Hi Ross -
I'm not looking for the plant - but I'd like to know what the abbreviation stands for, how to pronounce it, and how to care for the little rascals.

Well, I found this, in a site that hasn't been updated since 2005...long before any of us were born.
Agasepalum Agsp = Aganisia x Zygosepalum
That's a nice, inelegant word.
No hits on one of Agsm., though.

Hello, I just joined and not even sure how to get around on this site...but I too have a new Agsm Blue Butterfly orchid that I just purchased this past weekend. I am not sure how to care for it either. I'm assuming high light and likes to dry out between watering??? I thought I would find more info on it when I got it home, but no.
I am fairly new to the orchid world, but find myself jumping in hard. I don't pick them, they pick me, I think. Something strange but wonderful with these beauties. Kiki-do

you may find more cultural information under zygopetalum. Aganisia and zygopetalum are in same group (Lycastinae). Many have cultural requirements similar to lycaste.

PS ...
Agsm (should be Agsp) stands for Agasepalum - a cross of Aganisia and Zygosepalum. I have never grown this but believe its cultural requirements are similar to Zygopetalum or Lycaste.

As I thought, Blue Butterfly is a cross of Aganisia cyanea x Zygosepalum labiosum. You may find more info at Exiotic Orchids of Maui, the hybridizer.

I have one that I grow in my Orchidarium.

It was purchased from EOOM last summer. It's in a 2 inch plastic pot with bark. It's pretty small; has two pseudobulbs without leaves, two with and a new growth that has started in the last two weeks. It has not flowered. It is at the bottom of the Orchidarium so the light level is fairly low (by comparision) It used to sit underneath some mounts and would get run off every day. I thought maybe it was too much and moved it, but I'm going to move it back as it seemed to be doing better with more water.

If anyone has any suggestions as to better culture, or how to get it to flower, please let me know.

Don't bother taking it off now, it's too late.
