Smile Maxillaria picta.

Good grief, finally!

I got Maxillaria picta as a small 1" tall seedling with 3 tiny pseudobulbs, about 5 yrs ago.

My baby is all growed up, and...

It bloomed...

Post pics tomorrow!

Smells nice too, kinda hard to describe, the closest thing I could think of was apricots.

The fragrance got stronger today! It is better described as honey and apricots.

It's nice. I love the random red spotting.

Thank you all!

Carl, I love the red spotting too! I like the fact that this particular plant has nice markings on the lip.

I also loved how it caught me by surprise when it bloomed, I thought it was another shoot at first.

It's amazing how many of my plants started blooming during a lousy past couple of weeks. Kinda nice to have good stuff happen during these kinds of situations.

GOOD growing, Philip!

I also had my first Max picta in flower in February. A very pleasant surprise!

The concensus on this end is that it has a very strong, sweet fragrance.
