Maxillaria marginata
This is one of my absolute favorite flowers! I love the curl of the petals, the coloring, plus it has a lovely scent.

Nice one. I have to ask, do you grow this one wet? marginata usually refers to growing at the edge of smething, usually water. Or then again could be in reference to markings on the leaves. Thanks.

I have a habit of leaving orchids as they arrive. This one arrived in a 4inch plastic pot with sphag, the plant though has elevated itself and now sits above the media and the new growths are hanging over the edge of the pot...
I don't give it any more water than anything else on that shelf, but it usually stays moist, at least the part that is in the media does  |

I found some info, apparently it grows in coastal forests, so I suppose the marginata refers to on the edge of the sea. Hehe. In that case, it likes it humid Im sure. Thanks again!!

It's not a very large plant...it is potted in a 4inch pot, but the plant was centered in the pot and grew to the edge and is slightly hanging over.
