Default DICHAEA POLLINIZER

Today opens this beauty flower, this Dichaea (unknow name) found in the ecuadorian rainforest has a very strong scent like caramell, is about 3 - 4 cm.
When I touch the flower with my finger, something happens, the flower glue this pollen sacs on my nail.... The flower think my finger is a pollinizer.... The glue is strong for the size of the pollen sacs...
Enjoy the amazing natur of the ecuadorian orchids.

That's so cool!

Have you tried to pollinate it?

This makes the job so much easier. You don't have to use a toothpick to get the pollina off the column and out of the anther cap.

So cool!

Thank you, Beto.

The Scapho is fimbriatum, and is a plant I struggle with in the long run. It starts off fine, and then just dies.

I think I'm going to have to grow this one mounted next time.

I've found that flowers from the Maxillaria tribe are difficult to self pollinate. Perhaps if they were pollinated with another individual it would work.

Another trick I've heard of is using your saliva to dip the pollinia into so that it dissolves the protein coat that inhibits self pollination.

No problem.

Yeah, I like Scaphosepalums myself. I like how the flowers look like little monsters.

I will have to try them out again.

I don't think I can narrow down any favorites! I like them all!
